No rush to hearings on AUMA in California State Senate

Sandy Wood, a spokesperson for the California State Senate’s Rules Committee, today answered Etopia News’ question about whether Secretary of the Senate Daniel Alvarez has signed the requisite documentation authorizing the assignment by Rules to a substantive committee of the Adult Use of Marijuana Act (AUMA) for a hearing by saying, “He hasn’t.”

Elaborating, she re-iterated the point that the Legislature has until June 30, 2016 (131 days before the November 8, 2016, election) to hold these hearings.  “We have all of April and May and most of June.  There is no urgency to sign it.  He’ll sign it when he gets around to it.”
