WHAT:
The Writers Guild of
America, West (WGAW), Directors Guild of America (DGA), Google, and the Geena
Davis Institute on Gender in Media have joined forces to co-present a special
panel event, “Exploring Unconscious Bias,” next Mon. 4/20. This
thought-provoking evening will feature writers, directors, actors, and industry
advocates discussing how unconscious bias affects us all – and how we can work
together towards creating programming that reflects the dynamic shifts in the
way we view, consume, and create media. This multi-organization, candid
dialogue aims to foster diverse narratives, portrayals, and hiring practices
within the industry to increase diversity in front of and behind the camera and
more accurately reflect our world.

Panelists slated to
appear include: actress Geena Davis, Founder/Chair of the Geena Davis
Institute on Gender in Media; director Todd Holland, Malcolm in the
Middle, The Larry Sanders Show, Co-Chair, DGA Diversity Task Force;
showrunner/screenwriter Callie Khouri, Creator/Executive Producer, Nashville,
Thelma & Louise; showrunner Peter Paige, Co-Creator/Executive
Producer, The Fosters; showrunner Shonda Rhimes,
